HISTORY OF SMART HOME

The idea of developing a Smart Home is since the early 20th century. In 1915, the emergence of electrical home appliance began; domestic servants meant the household needed cheap and mechanical replacement. In 1960, the first “wired home” was built by American hobbyist. After microcontroller has been invented, a lot of work has been done to develop the Home Automation System. During 1990, Smart Home system has been developed based on the merging of telematics and communication system “The Internet”. Since 1990, the internet technology and Smart Home system were tied strongly. The concept of the “Internet of Things” enhances Smart Home system tremendously.

Recently, Smart Home system has 10 reached another level of intelligence by way wireless communication. The low-cost characteristic of Arduino microcontroller that can extend the network has been applied to the Smart Home system. By using Arduino microcontroller, the problem with messy wires and difficulty of setting up can be avoided. Besides, the usefulness and simplicity of Smartphone also can be applied to the Smart Home system as an attractive user interface. Since the early 20th century, a lot of work has been done to develop the Smart Home system. Basically, a Smart Home refers to a home with intelligent to control, monitoring and automate the home system. The Smart Home’s degree of intelligence depends on the complexity of the system.

PRESENT PROJECT

Many articles have been reviewed before doing this mobile system project. It is discovered that researchers tend to have their own point of view and their own ideas about the Smart Home system etc. Not all of the articles are related to this project because they intend to use a computer as part of their research. There are different ideas, a different type of project, and different types of language but most of them try to deliver a new application to the consumers. The idea is to provide an energy management system based mostly on appliances. To induce an additional elaborate explanation relating to this system, need to discover the history and development related to the smart home system that can help in understanding the system. The main component used in this project is the Arduino NodeMCU ESP8266 module. In addition, Google Assistant, IFTTT, and Blynk application are used to build this system.
